Why Choose a Serinus Citrinella
Many people are drawn to the idea of getting a Serinus Citrinella as a pet, mainly because of their bright colors. They look bright and merry and they usually are. Breeding in captivity is not a problem for these birds. Another advantage is that they do not expect you to pet them and hold them. You can just leave them with food and water and they entertain themselves. Of course, they may become attached to you but the idea of allowing children to hold them constantly and to play with them is not a very good one. Sometimes these birds can die of fright or of panic attacks, if they are constantly haunted by a playful kid with good intentions. Also, if you’re a smoker, you should know that your Serinus Citrinella won’t last for long, or at least it will not be a healthy little bird. These birds don’t necessarily need country air but they do need fresh air, not cigarette smoke. Finches are most happy in pairs and they also make good pet companions.
