Pet Bird Serinus Citrinella

Many people nowadays buy finches on an impulse: they are often just charmed by these little creatures that look pretty and sound even prettier and quite energetic. Finches have always been popular but in the past they used to be quite expensive so getting a finch for a pet was an eccentric act, reserved to the wealthy. Nowadays anyone can get a finch at a birds fair, but the low price that makes finches so affordable also presents a hazard for the well being of these little birds. Many people just buy a finch on a whim and don’t really care about learning what a finch really needs.

These cute and happy creatures often need a warm environment, abounding in fresh air: if you keep them in cigarette smoke they will die without delay. Also, some air fresheners can have a lethal effect on the finches so it is better to keep the air naturally fresh in the most old fashion sense of the word.

Moreover, if you leave your home for a longer time, say for a holiday, you must make arrangements for the finch to be taken care of. They need fresh water and fresh food n a daily basis and filling their cage with food and water only makes them panic. Also, dogs that bark and cats that wonder around can cause them stress as well and they don’t respond well to being too tampered with by small kids who make noises and handle them roughly.

On the other hand, these friendly birds are very comfortable for people who are career focused and only come home at night. These energetic little creatures do not need constant attention. Yet they need to be taken care of. Children can also learn how to be responsible and how to care for different life forms by means of tending to a finch as part of their daily responsibilities.
