Serinus Citrinella Aging

Just like one is able to tell a male Serinus Citrinella from a female Serinus Citrinella through color differences, such as the fact that the female has more grey-brownish plumage whereas the male has more of a brown-yellowish plumage, it is also possible to tell the age differences between generations using the same criteria. Juvenile birds are less green-yellowish than adults , they have brown-grey upper parts and grey=brown underparts with a touch of yellow, where as adults have no moult limits on the wings and they have brighter colors. Between the first year and the second year spring, the birds have moult limits on their wings: the moult limit on the wings is between moulted greater coverts and the juvenile retained. Sometimes all the greater coverts are moulted , which means that the limit is between the greater coverts and the primary coverts, between the alula feathers , tertials or even between tail feathers.
